Beauvais Lyons, Chancellor’s Professor in the School of Art, and Diane Fox, senior lecturer in the College of Architecture and Design, are featured in an exhibition Connections: Diane Fox and Beauvais Lyons at the Fine Arts Museum at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina from October 12, 2015 to January 15, 2016.
The exhibition pairs the work of Lyons and Fox, who are also husband and wife, through a shared interest in the visual representation of animals.
For more than a decade Fox has photographed taxidermy and dioramas in natural history museums worldwide. Her photographs have been featured in shows at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Photography, the Erie Art Museum, and the Tower Fine Arts Gallery in Brockport, New York.
Lyons’ work in the exhibition is from his Association for Creative Zoology project, which presents prints, sculpture and taxidermy from an imaginary creationist organization. In addition to several art galleries, this project has been presented at the Scopes Trial Festival in Dayton, Tennessee and the Museum of the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
