
Michael D. Cohen, who completed his Ph.D. in U.S. History at Harvard University in 2008, joined UT’s history faculty in 2009, and serves as assistant editor of The Correspondence of James K. Polk. In that capacity, Cohen has collaborated on Vol. 12 in that series, letters to and from Polk from January-July 1847, which UT Press will publish in 2013.
In early September the University of Virginia Press published his first book, Reconstructing the Campus: Higher Education and the American Civil War. This study of an overlooked aspect of the Civil War will has already received national attention; Cohen recently published an excerpt from his book in The New York Times.
