Elias Fernandez is an associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology. He recently published an article entitled “Structural basis for negative cooperativity within agonist-bound TR:RXR heterodimers” in the prestigious journal, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.
His primary areas of interest include protein structure, signal transduction, x-ray crystallography, and biophysics. He works on the three dimensional structure of proteins with a focus on the structure of nuclear hormone receptors. This information is combined with functional studies to understand the structure-function of these critical hormone receptors.
