
Veerle Keppens is an associate professor of materials science and engineering. With a Ph.D. in physics from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, her research deals with the measurement of basic physical properties of materials by resonant ultrasound spectroscopy. She is a recognized leader in this field and was recently elected as a Fellow of the Acoustic Society of America for her accomplishments. This summer, she is the Principle Investigator and primary host for a large group of students participating in a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates program that focuses on a variety of research topics in materials science and engineering.
