
Professor Joan MacLeod Heminway drew on nearly 15 years of corporate law experience at a leading national law firm in Boston when she joined the faculty of the College of Law in 2000. An expert in corporate finance, federal and state securities laws, and corporate and partnership law, she has published numerous well-regarded articles in these fields in leading national law journals, and she speaks regularly on these topics. She was honored in 2003 by UT Pro Bono for her work with its Animal Law Project, and in Boston she was recognized on four occasions for her pro bono work with the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project.
Professor Heminway is a member of the American Law Institute and is a Research Fellow of the Center for Corporate Governance, a multi-disciplinary research center at UT. She currently serves as President of the UTK Faculty Senate.
