Tony Mezzacappa, professor of physics, has been named director of the Joint Institute for Computational Sciences. In addition to his work at UT, Mezzacappa directed the Terascale Supernova Initiative at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Craig Barnes, former head of UTK’s chemistry department, has taken the post of interim director of the Science Alliance.
