Ivan Maldonado, associate professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering, led a UT/ORNL team that provided tutorials and lectures at the 4th Russian International Conference on Nuclear Material Protection Control and Accounting in Obninsk, Russia. The team also gave lectures at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute in Moscow.

Wayne T. Davis, dean of the College of Engineering, has been elected vice chair and chair-elect of the American Society of Engineering Education’s (ASEE) Engineering Research Council for 2009-2010. Davis will serve a two-year term in the post.

Recognizing Jason Hayward for his $1.5 million award to develop Cherenkov glasses for detection of penetrating radiation.

Wes Hines, Interim Associate Dean for Research & Technology and professor of nuclear engineering, recently accepted a position on the Board of Directors of the Prognostics and Health Management Society. This group is dedicated to promoting the development, growth and recognition of prognostics and health management as an engineering discipline.

Recognizing Dr. Angie Bukley for receiving the 2008 Life Sciences Book Award from the International Academy of Astronautics.
