Chunlei Su

Chunlei Su, Associate Professor of Microbiology, recently published an important paper in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, USA (PNAS, 2012, April 10, Vol. 109, p. 5844.). The publication was the result of an international collaboration to uncover the population genetic structure of the important pathogen Toxoplasma gondii that is carried by one-half of the world’s humans, causing a serious disease in those that may by immune-compromised. The study provides the basis for future research to facilitate identification of genes that control pathogenesis and transmission. Su’s research is focused on the study of the molecular biology and genetics of T. gondii.
