Thomas Heffernan, the Kenneth Curry Professor in English and Religious Studies, was selected by the National Endowment for the Humanities to direct a five-week seminar for college teachers on the autobiographies of Saint Augustine and Perpetua of Carthage, two of the most prominent religious autobiographies written in late Antiquity.
