Mahmut Karakaya, a third-year Ph.D. student, and his advisor Hairong Qi, associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, received the best paper award at the 3rd ACM/IEEE International Conference on Distributed Smart Cameras (ICDSC) for the work “Target Detection and Counting using a Progressive Certainty Map in Distributed Visual Sensor Networks.”
