Gary Flandro

Gary Flandro, professor at the UT Space Institute, was recently awarded the General Henry H. “Hap” Arnold Award by the Tennessee section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics for his research in combustion instability. He is credited with creating the Universal Combustion Device Stability (UCDS) process — an engineering tool used by NASA to mitigate vibration loads produced by thrusting rocket motors.
